OUR MAIN MISSION

Our mission is to provide a safe space for healers to heal and a training ground for healers to develop their craft.  This is accomplished through individual and group therapy sessions for those seeking healing; and trainings, internship, and employment opportunities for those seeking to develop their craft.

Hi, I'm Yolanda!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field for over twenty years in different capacities.  I began in community health as an Associate Professional with youth while teaching students with social-emotional needs.  While in Graduate school, I worked as a  Qualified Professional/Case Manager for adults with significant mental health needs.  My career path led me to work in hospitals and community agencies before deciding to go into Private Practice. I chose Private Practice to better serve my community and create the life I wanted for myself.

Hi, I'm Mya!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field for over five years. I began as a residential and substance use therapist, where I assisted individuals on their various recovery and sobriety journeys. Shortly after completing graduate school, I transitioned to the hospital/psychiatric setting, assisting adults with significant mental health challenges.  My career has led me to case management, supervision, and advocacy work for mental health services in our nation's Capital.  I chose to supplement my advocacy work with Private Practice to better serve my community and better inform policies and practices that are in place for mental health needs and services.  I am honored to serve in this capacity to create a better world for myself and those around me.

Why A Place for Peace?

If you’ve ever questioned whether therapy is right for you, take some time to review the benefits of working with A Place for Peace:

It starts with a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and how we can assist.

If it’s not a good fit, we do our best to refer to our community partners and guide you to additional service provider directories.

We assess to determine if a mental health diagnosis exists and discuss with you to develop the appropriate treatment plan.  Not having a diagnosis does not mean that therapy is not needed or beneficial, it means we can’t bill your insurance company for the sessions.

We support you in accomplishing the goal you set for yourself.  We understand that you are the expert on your life.  We are here to provide interventions to assist you in determining the best path for your healing.

We practice what we teach.  Each clinician continues their healing journey to ensure we have the capacity to hold a safe space for you.
